Fabio earned a First-Class MSc in Marine and Environmental Science from the University of Bologna (Italy) in 2001. His journey began with a tenure at a hydrographic survey company, where he gained international experience, subsequently relocating to Ireland to contribute to the National Seabed Mapping Program for over twenty years.
In his role as a hydrographer and project manager, Fabio is responsible for planning and executing offshore and inshore geophysical and hydrographic exploration programs. He leads offshore survey teams and coordinates the data management team, ensuring rigorous quality assurance and quality control processes, as well as the seamless dissemination of data.
In 2009, Fabio returned to academia to pursue his passion for research. He successfully completed his PhD, focusing on the geomorphology and sedimentology of the Irish continental margin. After this academic endeavour, he continued his hydrographic survey work while broadening his responsibilities to include research coordination. He remains an active contributor to the national and international academic community, on a wide range of topics, including remote sensing, marine acoustics, marine archaeological exploration, geomorphology, and habitat mapping.
Fabio joined MLA College in 2023 as an Associate Tutor on the MSc Advanced Hydrography for Professionals, programme as a project supervisor. In his spare time, he enjoys outdoor sport, hiking, sailing, kayaking and spearfishing.
