Gary is a Chartered Marine Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology. He is a qualified Engineering Council PRI Assessor and a Past Chair of the IMarEST Membership Committee. A former Merchant Navy Engineering Cadet and Officer on bulk carriers and general cargo vessels to Panamax size, Gary also served in the Amphibious Warfare specialisation of the Royal Navy (Reserves). He served on both Royal Navy and Royal Fleet Auxiliary platforms in the rank of Lieutenant Commander. At HMS CAMBRIA, Gary served as the Executive Officer and was a member of the Senior Management Board. He has civilian experience ashore in United Kingdom in various roles such as Facilities Manager and Technical Manager and overseas experience, as Direttore Technico and Direttore Commerciale. Gary has also held Managing Director positions in both control and instrumentation and management services companies. He is qualified to Masters level and was one of the first students to graduate on the MLA College ‘MSc Engineering for Professionals’ course, which is run in partnership with the University of Plymouth. Since graduating Gary has been an Associate Tutor at the MLA College.
