Glynn is a Chartered Chemist, a Chartered Environmentalist, a Chartered Water and Environment Manager and a Chartered Scientist.
A sustainability educator, he is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), the Higher Education Academy and the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM).
He is a WELL water advisor and a member of the WELL Faculty with the International WELL Building Institute. He is an Associate with Energy & Utility Skills, auditing UK water company Competent Operator Schemes and also spent many years as an expert project evaluator for the European Commission.
Before working in academe, ultimately as a Reader in Environmental Management & Sustainability at Staffordshire University, Dr. Skerratt spent fifteen years gaining practical scientific and managerial experience working in a variety of scientific and managerial roles in the UK water industry.
He is currently Chair of the RSC Water Science Forum interest group and an elected member of the RSC’s Professional Standards Board and their Energy, Sustainability and Environment Community. He has also been a member of the RSC Nominations Committee and the Secretary of the RSC Environmental Chemistry Group
Until recently, he undertook professional body licence reviews for both the Science Council and the Society for the Environment and has been a member of the Science Council’s Registration Authority.
He has been an External Examiner at the Universities of Hull, Southampton Solent and Derby, and a professional reviewer, university award accreditor and member of the Professional Standards Board with CIWEM. He has also been an examiner for the NEBOSH environmental assessments, and he wrote, and then delivered, all the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management’s online technical training modules over a six-year period.
