Trevor is a former Royal Navy Instructor Officer with 8 years’ experience of marine engineering training at the Royal Naval Engineering College that was in support of the Masters level marine engineering courses. A “sea” role was then taken with full RN training in Meteorology and Oceanography with initial forecasting experience with fast jets at RNAS Yeovilton. Promoted to Lieutenant Commander, Trevor also undertook basic Hydrographic courses and served on HMS Herald on deployment to the Ice Patrol ship role and the Mine Counter Measures roles as the Meteorology Officer. Three years as Training Officer Meteorology followed where Trevor was responsible for all Meteorology training to RN officers and ratings.
A career change saw Trevor as the General Manager of Noble Denton Weather Services Ltd in the Barbican in London supplying marine and construction forecasts to a wide range of clients around the world. The team moved under Fugro GEOS and Trevor worked as Land services forecast manager and also as project meteorologist on a wide range of offshore projects. Services developed ensured that motions for heavy lift vessels were at a safe minimum when heavy lifts were being performed. As Business Director for weather services Trevor won high value contracts with clients in his business area which enabled him to employ and train a large number of marine forecasters.
Alternative projects saw contract awards as commercial lead for BIS Innovate UK projects and during this time led the team developing an AI based global weather routing service for Fugro’s vessel fleet. He also led a project to develop a global MetOcean statistical package to aid decision making processes, worked with Reading University to supply commercially led MSc topics for their students and latterly, worked as Marine Data Delivery manager.
