At the National Maritime SME Awards 2023, this evening, MLA College was named runner up for the Best Maritime Training and Education Programme award, second to IBTC Lowestoft, who scooped the award.
The awards ceremony, which took place this evening (Wednesday 13th September) at Woods Quay in London as part of a series of events for London International Shipping Week 2023, bought together industry professionals from all over the UK in a bid to recognise and celebrate their outstanding achievements.
CEO, Professor Basak Akdemir along with Head of Naval Education, Professor Malek Pourzanjani, and Head of Operations, Phil Hughes, represented MLA College at the ceremony.
“Tonight has been a very special evening for all nominees and award winners – everyone plays a vital role in supporting the maritime industry and it’s wonderful to see so many people here this evening”, said Basak.
She added, “I feel so proud that MLA College has been named as runner-up in this category. Everyone works so hard behind the scenes to ensure that our maritime education degree programme delivery is first class. I would like to congratulate IBTC Lowestoft for winning this category and for Brockenhurst College, who is also a runner up”.
The Maritime Training and Education Programme award was open to all maritime education programmes and activities that are developed with the aim of expanding learning, enhancing access to information and providing unique academic experiences to all age groups – including adults.
