Marine and maritime citizens from Singapore can apply for up to 70% funding to study with MLA College.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has announced they will continue to provide the Training Grant from the Maritime Cluster Fund (MCF) up until the 6th January 2025, which will support companies and individuals develop their industry skills. 

Citizens of Singapore who have been offered a place to study with MLA College are eligible to apply.

MLA College is proud to be an approved education provider with the following programmes being listed amongst the MPA’s approved courses:

– BSc/BSc (Hons) in Sustainable Maritime Operations

Master’s in Sustainable Maritime Operations

Delivered through distance learning, MLA College provides the flexibility for students gain a Higher Education qualification, whilst continuing to work.

The eligibility criteria for the Training Grant is subject to the fulfilment of all of the following conditions:

  • Course participants must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents, on or before commencement of course;
  • Course participants may be self-sponsored (includes individuals who are unemployed, or mid-career converts who wish to explore opportunities in the maritime industry) or maritime employees sponsored by business entities/organisations registered or incorporated in Singapore. Employees sponsored by business entities/organisations must not be Public Officers;
  • Course participants must not be receiving any other forms of financial assistance administered by other government bodies (in the case of self-sponsored Public Officers, this includes all types of staff benefits received) for the course, with the exception of SkillsFuture Study Awards;
  • Course participants must successfully complete the programme and be awarded with the certification.

Applications can be made upon receipt of unconditional offer, through to a year after graduating.

Singapore citizens that are in receipt of an unconditional offer letter for any of our other maritime related programmes can contact the MPA Singapore directly to apply for discretionary funding.
