MLA are pleased to announce that our Charity of the Year for 2025 is Shekinah.
Based in Plymouth, Shekinah works across Cornwall and Devon, providing support to the homeless community. Their efforts include a range of initiatives designed to address the causes and consequences of homelessness while providing supplies such as food and clothing on a daily basis for those in need.
Shekinah assists individuals in returning to the workforce through training and employment support, ensuring they gain the necessary skills for employment. They collaborate with organisations to secure accommodation, providing stable living conditions for the homeless members of our society. The charity also offers counselling services to address mental health challenges and substance abuse issues, key factors in the cycle of homelessness. Additionally, their ‘Make Amends’ programme implements restorative justice, facilitating reconciliation between victims and offenders, tackling the criminal aspects of homelessness.
By supporting Shekinah, MLA College is not only addressing local challenges in Plymouth but also advancing our commitment to sustainability. MLA College and Shekinah share a mission to support and promote the United Nations 17 SDGs, and we look forward to working collaboratively with Shekinah over the next year.
