GCSE: all applicants must have GCSE (or equivalent) Mathematics and English at grade C or above.
Students are admitted to the MSc on the basis of one of the following:
- A diploma/foundation degree (FdSc/HND) in Marine Engineering/Navigation Science (or equivalent) plus at least two years work experience as a senior officer (2nd officer and above).
- A relevant undergraduate degree.
- Portfolio accreditation of Accredited Prior Learning (APL) and relevant work experience.
Students are admitted to the BSc on the basis of one of the following:
- An equivalent to year two of a British degree in a relevant subject.
- Portfolio accreditation of Accredited Prior Learning (APL) and relevant work experience.
Applicants with no maritime related qualifications and/or work experience may still be eligible to apply:
- Candidates applying for the BSc (Hons) Sustainable Maritime Operations must be qualified to UK Higher National Diploma or equivalent level
- Candidates applying for the MSc Sustainable Maritime Operations must be qualified to UK Bachelor Degree level
- A personal statement clearly explaining the motivation for applying to study Sustainable Maritime Operations (e.g. career change) must be submitted with the application
- Applicants accepted to the programme via this route will be required to undertake an eight-week Sustainable Maritime Operations Access Course (SMOAC) before starting their programme
